The Minority, Women, and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (MWDBE) Program provides opportunities for minority, women, and disadvantaged business enterprises (MBEs, WBEs, and DBEs) to:

  • Participate in county contracts
  • Become certified with the Pennsylvania Unified Certification Program (PA UCP)
  • Provide services and resources to help these entities grow their businesses

Other reasons your business should become certified:

  • Access to Corporate and Government Contracts

    • Many corporations and government agencies have supplier diversity goals and actively seek certified women-owned businesses.

  • Increased Visibility

    • Certification often places your business in searchable databases used by buyers looking to diversify their suppliers.

  • Networking Opportunities

    • Certified businesses gain access to national conferences, matchmaking events, and regional networking opportunities.

  • Educational Resources and Training

    • Many certifying bodies offer business development programs, workshops, and webinars tailored to women entrepreneurs.

  • Marketing Advantage

    • The certification can be a powerful branding tool, signaling credibility and commitment to diversity.

  • Mentorship and Peer Support

    • Programs often include mentorship opportunities and peer networks to support growth and problem-solving.

  • Eligibility for Grants and Funding

    • Some grants, loans, and venture capital sources prioritize certified women-owned businesses.

  • Competitive Edge in Bidding

    • Certification can be the differentiator that helps win contracts in competitive proposal situations.

  • Credibility and Validation

    • Being certified provides third-party validation of your ownership and business practices.
